Known issues on the 2019 S5 Sportback. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers rear axle misalignment that was not reinspected following an earlier recall repair, which can cause premature or uneven tire wear and increase the risk of a crash. The second covers the rear axle trailing arm lock nut, which can break from stress corrosion and misalign the rear axle, causing a loss of control. The third covers a faulty cable connecting the seat heater to the Passenger Occupant Detection System, which can cause the software to misdiagnose a malfunction and disable the passenger air bag. The fourth covers the front shock absorber forks, which can develop cracks that let the shock absorbers loosen and impair steering. Consequence
Loose shock absorbers may impair vehicle steering, increasing the risk of crash.
