2017 Kia K900 Service and Repair Manual
The 2017 K900 was built around two very different powertrains, and the service data splits with them: torque values, fluid capacities and diagnostic routines written for the 5.0L V8 do not carry across to the 3.8L V6, and the Elite, Luxury and Premium cars differ again in what is fitted. Known issues on the 2017 K900. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year, and both name the same component group: hydraulic service brakes, antilock and traction control. One of the two, campaign 22V051000, identifies the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) module, which could malfunction and cause an electrical short. The other is campaign 23V652000. In both, the stated consequence is an engine compartment fire while parked or driving, which can increase the risk of injury. Owners have filed 3 complaints for the year and Kia has issued 19 technical service bulletins.

Kia Motors America (Kia) is recalling certain 2016-2018 K900 and 2014-2016 Sportage vehicles. The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) module could malfunction and cause an electrical short, which could result in an engine compartment fire.
An engine compartment fire while parked or driving can increase the risk of injury.
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will install a new fuse for the HECU circuit board, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 22, 2022. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's number for this recall is SC227.
Kia America, Inc. (Kia) is recalling certain 2010-2019 Borrego, 2014-2016 Cadenza, 2010-2013 Forte, Forte Koup, Sportage, 2015-2018 K900, 2011-2015 Optima, 2011-2013 Optima Hybrid, Soul, 2012-2017 Rio, 2011-2014 Sorento, and 2010-2011 Rondo vehicles. The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) may experience an electrical short, which can result in an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete. Dealers will replace the HECU fuse, free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed November 14, 2023. Owner notification letters were mailed March 29, 2024 through June 18, 2024. THE 2017 KIA K 900 HAS HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES OF CONCERN. THE 4 PASSENGER DOORS HAVE ALL RIPPLED AND SEPARATED FROM THE DOOR INTRUSION BAR.I HAVE BROUGHT THIS CONCERN TO THE ATTENTION OF KIA SERVICE CENTER AND KIA COOPERATE. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO TWO COLLISION SHOPS FOR RECOMMENDATIONS.TO CORRECT THE SITUATION. RECOMMENDATION WAS TO HAVE KIA BUY BACK THE VEHICLE.
