Known issues on the 2017 Trax. Three recalls sit on the federal record. Two of them describe the same defect across overlapping build ranges: a poorly welded joint in a front lower control arm that can fracture, letting the arm separate partway so the front wheel toes outward and the vehicle no longer goes where it is pointed. The third covers front air bags and belt pretensioners that may not deploy in a crash. Steering leads the 111 complaints with 19, then the engine at 18 and the electrical system at 15.
