Known issues on the 2016 M4. The federal record carries three recalls for this year, and two of them are driveline failures. In one, the joint between the driveshaft and its flange can come apart and leave the car without drive; in the other, a slip-joint that was never packed with grease wears until it fails and power to the rear axle stops. The third concerns rear sub-frame bolts reused during earlier service work, which can loosen and blunt the car's handling. Of 21 owner complaints, seven are against the power train, four the suspension and four the engine.
