Known issues on the 2012 Crosstour. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year, and three of them trace back to the passenger frontal air bag inflator module. One recall warns that the inflator can explode, sending sharp metal fragments at the driver or other occupants and risking serious injury or death. A second covers inflators degraded by long-term exposure to high humidity and temperature that can also explode. A third involves inflators that were incorrectly installed as a replacement part, which can keep the passenger air bag from deploying properly in a crash. The fourth recall covers the side curtain air bags: a driver- or passenger-side inflator built outside spec may fail to deploy in a collision. Owners have filed 32 complaints for the year.
