Known issues on the 2011 MKS. Steering accounts for 21 of the 43 complaints on the 2011 MKS, and it also figures in one of its 3 recalls: on certain vehicles equipped with the turbocharged 3.5L engine, a steering motor sensor fault could shut off electric power assist, making low-speed steering heavy. Certain vehicles built during a set period had an interior door handle return spring that could unseat, so a door might unlatch in a side impact. On certain others, the driver's frontal air bag might inflate improperly in its second stage. Of the complaints, 3 reported a crash, 1 a fire, 2 an injury and 1 a death.
