The 2009 A8 L is a late car in its generation, and by this point the wear has moved downstream of the engine. What comes into the workshop is driveline work: the quattro system splitting drive front and rear, the propshaft and its support bearing, differential and axle seals, and a transmission that has usually spent its life in heavy stop-start miles. This manual covers the 2009 model year with the 4.2L V8 and the 6.0L W12.

That is a fair guide to the mechanical package, and on a driveline job it is fair right up to the point where length enters the equation: propshaft sections and their support bearing, rear brake and fuel lines and the harness runs beside them are specified to the body, along with rear cabin equipment and rear door hardware. Verify those against your own build data.
