Known issues on the 2008 SLK280. The 2008 SLK280 has one recall of its own on the federal record: certain cars have a driver frontal airbag whose inflator may rupture when it deploys, sending metal fragments toward the driver or passengers. Dealers fit a replacement driver airbag module. Separately, NHTSA filed a recall against the 2008 SLK-Class line after certain vehicles received incorrect coding at a workshop, which could stop the fuel pump from getting its crash shut-off signal. Eight owner complaints concern the 2008 SLK280, half of them about air bags; one complaint reported a crash and one reported an injury.
