Known issues on the 2007 Ion. The federal record shows 5 recalls for the 2007 Ion. In certain vehicles, the ignition could release the key while not in Off, so a vehicle left out of Park could roll away; dealers replaced the ignition cylinder where needed and cut new keys. Certain vehicles could also lose electric power steering assist abruptly. Owners filed 876 complaints: steering 408, electrical system 215, fuel/propulsion system 130, fuel system, gasoline 79 and air bags 65. Among them, 38 reported a crash and 24 an injury.
