2007 GMC W4500 Forward Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2007 GMC W4500 Forward addresses a low-tilt straight truck under the W4S042 code, powered either by a naturally aspirated 6.0L overhead-valve V8 of 364 cubic inches on gasoline or by a turbocharged 5.2L inline-four of 317 cubic inches on diesel. Engine choice changes the fuel, ignition or injection chapters; it changes very little else. The rest of the book — driveline, brakes, steering, suspension, cab and electrical — is common, with procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for each system.

Known issues on the 2007 W4500 Forward. Four recalls appear on the federal record for the 2007 W4500 Forward. One concerns diesel fuel seeping from the pipe where it joins a port on the supply pump. Another covers oil pipe bolts left below specification, which loosen and let oil past the packing seals until the engine seizes and the truck slows abruptly. A third involves a hitch channel attached with an insufficient weld that can bend or pull away under load. Two owner complaints are logged, on the fuel and propulsion system and on engine and cooling. Fuel supply, lubrication and cooling procedures are all here.
