For 2006 Yamaha moved to a new part number. LIT-11616-RS-01 replaces the earlier book and covers the 2006 and 2007 Road Star range, with the base 2006 machine coded XV17AV.

That code is what separates your bike from the Midnight, Silverado and Midnight Silverado that share the same volume. Procedures are written once for the platform; the specification tables and the bodywork sections are where the variants diverge.

Working through it, the layout puts periodic service and tune-up figures up front, then engine removal and teardown including valve clearance, pushrods and lifters, clutch, primary drive and transmission, each with assembly torque. Fuel delivery, ignition, the charging circuit and starting system follow. The chassis chapters handle forks, rear shock, wheel bearings, brake pad and disc limits and the belt drive. A full wiring diagram closes the book.
