Known issues on the 2005 CL230. The most serious recall in the data was filed against certain 2005 C230 models, not the CL230 itself: a driver's frontal airbag inflator that could burst during deployment and throw metal fragments at the occupants, fixed by replacing the driver airbag module. NHTSA filed three more against certain vehicles in that line for the sliding roof, two over a glass panel that may not have been secured and one over a failing bond between glass and frame, any of which could leave the panel on the road. Of the 84 complaints lodged about 2005 C230 models, 49 concern air bags, 12 the electrical system and 9 engine and engine cooling. Restraint system procedures, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are covered here.
