2005 Ford Freestyle Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2005 Ford Freestyle describes a four-door wagon with one engine, the naturally aspirated 3.0L V6 of 181 cubic inches with dual overhead camshafts, in Limited, SE and SEL trim. With a single powerplant and a single body, the book has no branching to do: one set of procedures, specifications and torque values covers the mechanical work, and one set of wiring diagrams and diagnostics covers the electrical side, whichever of the three trims is on the lift.

Known issues on the 2005 Freestyle. Two recalls are on federal record. One covers the straps that hold the fuel tank to the body, which may break and drop the tank and its heat shield onto the driveshaft or the exhaust, with a fuel leak and fire the concern. The other concerns door latches whose pawl may not return to position when the door is closed, so a door could open while the wagon is moving. Owners have filed 1,459 complaints with NHTSA, led by vehicle speed control and the power train. Fuel tank, latch and driveline procedures all appear here.
