The manual and the code

A 2004 carbureted G22 G-MAX uses Yamaha's LIT-19616-22-04 and carries the identification code G22AZ. Both belong on any parts enquiry.

The book was written to cover five model years, 2003 through 2007, and fifteen variants of the G22 and G23 platform, gas cars and 48-volt electrics plus the UMAX Medium Duty utility versions. Yamaha handled the year-to-year revisions inside the text.

For the engine, expect the full overhaul sequence with clearance and runout figures, valve and cylinder service, carburetor disassembly and adjustment, and the fuel and exhaust systems. The drive train chapter deals with the clutches and belt, a frequent source of complaints on a car that idles all day and moves in bursts.
