The 2004 Jaguar XJ8 is a single-specification car: one engine, the 4.2L V8, and one body, the Base Sedan 4-Door. Nothing about servicing this year depends on which variant sits in front of you, so the specifications Jaguar published for the 2004 XJ8 apply across the board, and the year's federal safety record comes down to a single recall.

Known issues on the 2004 XJ8. One recall is on federal record for this model year, and it covers the gasoline fuel system. Certain replacement Fram fuel filters, P/N G3727, were built with a connector that was not manufactured to Honeywell's specification, so the O-ring may not seat correctly on the fuel line. That condition may cause an inadequate seal at the connection, potentially leading to a fuel leak, and in the presence of an ignition source a fire could occur. No owner complaints are on record for the year.
From checking a fuel filter connection for an O-ring that never seated to routine service on the 4.2L V8, the work stays on Jaguar's own procedure and the correct specification for the 2004 XJ8.
CERTAIN REPLACEMENT FUEL FILTERS, FRAM BRAND NAME P/N G3727, WITH DATE CODES X52911 THROUGH X60801 SEQUENTIALLY OR X600141 AND A MEXICO COUNTRY OR ORIGIN MARKING ON THE FUEL FILTER HOUSING MANUFACTURE
THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE AN INADEQUATE SEAL AT THE CONNECTION, POTENTIALLY LEADING TO A FUEL LEAK. I
HONEYWELL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOB
