Known issues on the 2001 Aztek. The federal record holds 5 recalls for the 2001 Aztek. On certain 2001 Aztek vehicles the fuel tank inlet check valve could crack from production variation or heat, so fuel could collect on the tank near a possible spark; the tank was replaced. Two others recalled certain 2001 Aztek vehicles over the passenger air bag: some lacked a check valve pin, which could alter deployment pressure, and some inflators held twice the propellant or none, so the module could burst or the bag stay flat. Owners filed 216 complaints, led by the electrical system at 40 and the gasoline fuel system at 29; 14 complaints reported a crash, 6 a fire and 15 an injury.
