This factory service and repair manual for the 2000 Mercury Villager has one engine, one body and three trims to reconcile: the naturally aspirated 3.3L V6 with a single overhead camshaft, the three-door mini passenger van, and Base, Estate and Sport equipment. That is a narrow enough spread that most of the book reads as a single specification, covering engine and transmission procedures, chassis torque values and climate system service, with the trim-driven differences confined largely to the wiring diagrams and the interior sections.

Known issues on the 2000 Villager. Two recalls are recorded federally. One covers seat belt buckle bases that were not properly heat treated and therefore fall short of the load a restraint has to bear, so an occupant may not be held in a crash. The other concerns the bolts that mount the rack-and-pinion steering gear, which may have been tightened incorrectly and can leave the steering loose, noisy or vibrating. The 74 complaints recorded lean hard on vehicle speed control with 36, followed by the service brakes at seven and seat belts at four.
