Known issues on the 2000 ML430. Steering tops the 49 owner complaints logged for the 2000 ML430 with 16, ahead of air bags and stability control at seven apiece. Five complaints reported a crash, two a fire and five an injury. NHTSA filed five recalls against the 2000 M-Class line. Among them, certain vehicles had a power steering cooler hose clamp that could lose its grip and leak fluid, while certain passenger vehicles had a rear middle seat belt anchor made from hardware outside tolerance. Separately, 24 complaints were lodged against the 2000 M-Class line, again led by steering.
