Known issues on the 1999 E430. NHTSA filed one recall against certain 1999 E-Class line vehicles: an incorrect clamp might have been fitted to the window air bag units, which could stop the bag from inflating fully in a side impact. Dealers inspected the units and replaced any with the wrong clamp.
