If the code on your 1998 Virago 250 reads XV250K, this is the correct factory service literature: Yamaha part number LIT-11616-XV-25.

Yamaha wrote one book for the whole 250 cruiser line and revised it as the years went by, which is why the coverage list runs 1988 to 1990, 1995 to 1999 and 2001 to 2005, and why the Route 66 appears alongside. For an owner, that breadth is useful. A part you cannot source for the 1998 bike may well carry over from a neighbouring year, and the manual shows you where the machines diverge and where they do not.

Content is straight factory material. Specification tables come first, then engine work, chassis work and the electrical system, each with the measurements a repair is judged against rather than a general description of what the component does.
