1997 Yamaha VIRAGO 250 Service and Repair Manual

Model code XV250J identifies the 1997 Virago 250, and the manual written for it carries the Yamaha part number LIT-11616-XV-25. Those two strings are the whole fitment check.

The same volume served an unusually long stretch of production. Yamaha listed it against the 1988, 1989 and 1990 bikes, the 1995 to 1999 run, and every year from 2001 through 2005, plus the Route 66 built on the same chassis. Buyers sometimes assume a book spanning that many seasons must be vague. It is the opposite: where a part or a setting changed, the text calls out the code it applies to.
