1996 Geo Tracker Service and Repair Manual

Major changes arrived for 1996: dual air bags, available four-wheel anti-lock brakes and, for the first time, a four-door Geo Tracker on a wheelbase 11 inches longer than the convertible's. The two-door hardtop was discontinued, leaving the convertible and the new four-door in Base and LSi trims, and every version now used the 95-hp 16-valve 1.6L SOHC four-cylinder. Known issues on the 1996 Tracker. One recall is on federal record: a fuel tank recall (96V121001) because a flange reinforcement can puncture the tank in a rear-end collision. NHTSA also logs 88 owner complaints, most often about the engine and cooling system and air bags.
