This factory service and repair manual for the 1995 Mercedes-Benz S600L covers a 6.0L V12 with dual overhead camshafts, breathing without a turbo or supercharger and burning gasoline. With one trim, Base, and one body, a four-door sedan, the challenge is the sheer amount of engine, fuel and electrical hardware a twelve-cylinder car carries.

Engines covered

  • 6.0L V12 — DOHC, naturally aspirated, gasoline

Body styles covered

  • 4-door sedan

Known issues on the 1995 S600L. Five owner complaints name the 1995 S600L, and the electrical system is cited in five of five, with the fuel and propulsion system and the engine each cited once. Owners logged 35 complaints against the wider 1995 S-Class line, 27 of them electrical, four about engine and engine cooling and one about seat belts. NHTSA filed one recall against certain 1995 W140-chassis models: a badly set machine tool left metal debris in the rear ABS sensor bore, which could fool the ABS unit into sensing wheel lock and intervene early, lengthening stops. Dealers cleaned out the openings. Wiring diagrams, ABS diagnostics and engine specifications here follow those systems.
