This factory service and repair manual for the 1995 BMW 840Ci covers a two-door coupe sold in one trim, Base, with a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V8 turning double overhead camshafts and running on gasoline. One engine and one body make the volume unusually direct: the fuel, ignition, cooling and emissions chapters point at that V8 and nothing else, and the chassis, brake and body-electrical sections describe a single shell with one suspension layout and one set of torque figures to work to.

Known issues on the 1995 840Ci. One recall stands on the federal record for this year. The cruise control and throttle cables are anchored to the same lever at the throttle housing, and a plastic bushing on either cable can break under vibration and weathering. Once it does, the outer cable housing separates and can catch on the broken edge, holding the throttle valve partly open so the car does not slow as the driver expects. A single owner complaint is on record, logged under visibility. Throttle linkage adjustment, cable routing and the specifications behind them are documented in the engine management section here.
