Long track buyers should be looking for the code VX750STU on a 1994 machine. The factory manual is LIT-12618-MM-00.

It is a family book. Yamaha used it for the 1994 through 1997 seasons and included the V Max 4, the V Max 4800 and the Mountain Max along with the 4ST. Since the long track shares most of its engine and much of its chassis with the standard sled, the shared work appears once and the parts specific to the longer suspension and track are identified by code.

That is the detail worth attending to. A specification written for a short track machine is not necessarily the one your sled wants, and the manual is explicit about which is which. Torque figures, clearances, service limits, wiring and diagnosis are all as Yamaha published them for its dealers.
