This factory service and repair manual for the 1992 Porsche 968 is built around this exact year, engine and trim combination, so the torque values and procedures inside match what Porsche specified for your car rather than a generic figure pulled from another model year.

Known issues on the 1992 968. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers vehicle speed control: the rear engine compartment cover near the cruise control servo motor can slip, binding the safety clip in the servo arm so the cruise control cable sticks and the engine fails to return to idle when cruise is disengaged, so vehicle speed is not reduced as expected and stopping distance increases. The second covers the steering rack and pinion: one or more of the bolts mounting the steering rack to the chassis may have been over-torqued and stretched during manufacturing, allowing the rack to shift, which produces an off-center steering wheel, less precise steering control, and can damage the rack. No complaints have been filed for this model year. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind both of those systems are here.
Whether you're inspecting the cruise control servo linkage or checking steering rack mounting torque, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your 1992 968.
