On certain 1992 Laser vehicles, the transfer case could lock up after running short of lubricant, which may cause a loss of control; dealers checked its oil level, looked for leaks and assessed the mechanism, adding oil where needed. Power train issues account for 17 of the 35 owner complaints, and the engine and engine cooling for 9, with visibility at 4. One complaint reported a crash and one reported a death.
