1987 Yamaha WAVE RUNNER Service and Repair Manual

The original. A 1987 Wave Runner carries the code WR500H, and the service manual Yamaha published for it is LIT-18616-00-26, a volume that also takes in the 1989 model year and the Wave Jammer.

Nearly four decades on, the factory book is the only account of these machines that can be trusted on numbers. That is what you want from it: the torque a fastener takes, the clearance a component is allowed, the resistance a coil should read, what the wiring diagram says is in the harness.

The procedures also matter. They were written by people who had the machine in front of them, in the order the work is actually done, which is not always the order that seems obvious. Between the specifications, the diagrams and the troubleshooting sequences, most jobs on a WR500H stop being an experiment. Note the part number when you go looking for parts.
