This factory service and repair manual for the 1987 Chevrolet B60 covers four engines in one cab forward school bus, the B6P042: the naturally aspirated 6.0L OHV and 5.7L gasoline V8s and the 8.2L V8 diesel in turbocharged and naturally aspirated versions. Two fuels, two of each, and one chassis under all of them. Engine specifications, torque values and diagnostic sequences are given individually, and the frame, driveline, brake, steering and electrical sections then apply to whichever combination a particular bus carries.

Known issues on the 1987 B60. No recall and no owner complaint stand against this model year in federal records. What the manual does instead is keep an aging bus serviceable. Both gasoline V8s and both 8.2L diesels are documented with procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics, and the cab forward chassis coverage runs from the steering and front suspension through the driveline to the brakes and the wiring that supplies the cab, the instruments and the exterior lamps.
