Known issues on the 1986 Colt. The federal record lists 1 recall for the 1986 Colt. It concerned certain 1986 Colt vehicles with front seat belts made by Takata, whose red plastic release buttons could crack; broken pieces could drop into the buckle and stop it working properly, leaving an occupant poorly protected in a crash. Owners were asked to test both front buckles and have faulty ones repaired or replaced free. Seat belts also account for 6 of the 7 owner complaints, with the fuel system and power train at 1 each.
