Known issues on the 1986 Starion. The 1986 Starion has one recall on the federal record. It applied to certain vehicles fitted with Takata-made safety belts: the red plastic release button on a front buckle could crack, and fragments falling inside the buckle could stop it from latching or releasing correctly, leaving an occupant poorly protected in a crash. Owners were asked to check both front buckles and have a dealer repair or replace a faulty one at no charge. Owners have lodged 2 complaints, one under the gasoline fuel system and one under seat belts.
