1985 Yamaha G1 (CARB 2-STROKE) Service and Repair Manual

Yamaha's shop manual LIT-11616-G1-83 lists the 1985 carbureted car as model code G1-AM5. Confirm that code against the plate, since the AM3, AM4 and AM5 cars are separate entries.

The book itself is broad: 1982 to 1989 and thirteen G1 variants, carbureted and electric. Yamaha maintained the line with one reference and the pages reflect that, separating the power unit chapters while treating the chassis as common.

Engine work is covered from carburettor and ignition adjustment through to service limits for the cylinder and piston. The drive clutch and belt have their own procedures. Chassis chapters give brake adjustment, axle service, steering and front suspension with tightening torques throughout, and the periodic maintenance schedule lists intervals. The wiring diagram is the factory drawing, useful for tracing a fault on a car that has had decades of repairs.
