Known issues on the 1984 190D. NHTSA filed three recalls against the 1984 W201-chassis models. Certain of those cars have a parking brake handle that can distort and pinch its release knob, letting the lever slip and lose holding force on a slope; a new grip design fixed it. Certain W201 cars could lose rear brake lights and the pedal cancel for cruise control when one fuse blew, and certain passenger cars equipped with alloy wheels carrying a specific range of codes stamped inside the rim could develop hairline cracks around the ventilation holes, with new rims fitted where needed.
