1984 Ford EXP Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1984 Ford EXP covers two versions of the 1.6L inline-four with a single overhead cam: a turbocharged unit and a naturally aspirated one, both gasoline. The two-door hatchback came in three trims: Base, Luxury and Turbo. The manual carries procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics for both engines, so boost-related work on the turbocharged car and routine service on the naturally aspirated one are handled from the same reference, along with brakes, suspension, body and wiring.

Known issues on the 1984 EXP. A single recall is on federal record for the 1984 EXP, concerning the front seat belt anchorage: the bolts that attach the D-shaped ring for the shoulder belt were inadequately supported by the material they were mounted in, so the attachment did not comply with the requirements. Owner complaints logged with NHTSA: none. The manual's restraint and body procedures and specifications cover the anchorage inspection, and its engine, turbocharger, brake, suspension and wiring coverage handles the rest of the hatchback.
