1983 GMC Astro Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1983 GMC Astro has four diesels to serve: the turbocharged 14.0L and 14.6L inline-sixes, the 9.0L V6 and the 12.1L V8. The truck itself comes as a high tilt tractor or a high tilt straight truck under four designations, D9K042, D9K064, D9L042 and D9L064. Fuel, air, cooling and electrical procedures are given per engine, so the figures for a turbocharged six are never confused with those for the V8.

Known issues on the 1983 Astro. Nothing appears on the federal record for this year: no recall has been issued, and no owner has complained to NHTSA. That leaves the manual to its normal work across four diesel engines and two body configurations. Procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are provided for the 9.0L V6, the 12.1L V8 and both turbocharged inline-sixes, and the chassis and cab material covers the tilt front end, the frame and the electrical system that a tractor and a straight truck share.
