1983 Ford E-100 Econoline Club Wagon Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 1983 Ford E-100 Econoline Club Wagon covers the two-door standard passenger van in two trims, Custom and XL, and its three engines, each overhead-valve, naturally aspirated and gasoline-fueled: the 4.9L inline-six of 300 cubic inches, the 5.0L V8 of 302 cubic inches and the 5.8L V8 of 351 cubic inches. With three engines under one body, the procedures, specifications and torque values are kept engine by engine, and the wiring diagrams and diagnostics run through the fuel pump circuit, the automatic transmission, the brakes, wheels and tires and the body electrics of the passenger van.

Known issues on the 1983 E-100 Econoline Club Wagon. Six recalls are on the federal record for this passenger van. Overpressurization of the fuel system can force fuel out of the filler pipe, where any ignition source could start a fire, a diode in the fuel pump circuit can short while the engine is being started and starve it of fuel afterward, and a broken pin in the transmission's park linkage can leave the parking gear disengaged. Two owner complaints are logged with NHTSA, both concerning the tires. Fuel system, fuel pump wiring and transmission linkage procedures cover the recalls, and its wheel and tire specifications the complaints.
