With the 1982 model year the G1 moved to a new service book, LIT-11616-G1-83, and the carbureted car for that season is model code G1-A3.

Thirteen variants are covered, spread over 1982 to 1989. Yamaha put the two-stroke cars and the 36-volt electrics in the same volume, so a shop that sees both drivetrains works from one reference.

Engine and chassis

Carburettor adjustment, ignition checks, cylinder and piston service limits, clutch and drive belt work, then the chassis side with brake adjustment, axle service, steering and front suspension. Each procedure lists the removal order and the torque the fasteners go back to.

The wiring diagram is the factory drawing, and the periodic maintenance chart sets out intervals for the items that shorten a car's life when they are ignored.
