On certain 1982 GLC vehicles equipped with cruise control, the ball joint linking the cruise control lever to its connecting rod could fit too tightly and bind, slowing the throttle's return and risking uncontrolled acceleration; the recall covered 24,270 vehicles, and the fix was a connecting rod designed for this model and year. On certain rear-wheel-drive cars used where road salt is heavy, a deteriorating dust seal could let the idler arm pin corrode, seize and snap, threatening steering control; the remedy was a replacement pin with improved corrosion resistance.
