1979 Yamaha DT175 Service and Repair Manual

Model code DT175F is the 1979 machine, and the book that covers it carries the Yamaha number LIT-11616-DT-17. Read that code off the frame plate first; DT175 owners often find they have a neighbouring year and buy the wrong reference.

Yamaha did not publish a separate volume for each season here. The 1978 and 1979 DT175 share this manual, and the DT125 is documented in it too, which is useful if there is more than one of these bikes in the garage.

Content is the ordinary factory arrangement: engine and chassis sections broken into removal, inspection and installation, with the measurement limits that tell you whether a part is still serviceable. Torque values are given where a fastener matters. The electrical chapter includes the wiring diagram and the resistance checks for testing coils, switches and the charging circuit.

Troubleshooting is organised by symptom, so a bike that will not start or runs rich can be traced in a sensible order instead of by guesswork.
