Yamaha documented the DT400D of 1977 in LIT-11616-01-44, the volume that also carries the DT250 and spans the 1977 and 1978 model years.

Verify DT400D on the frame plate. The specification tables separate the 400 from the 250, so you take your figures from the column that matches that code.

Engine coverage follows the factory sequence, from removal through inspection to reassembly, and the inspection limits are the ones used to decide whether a part goes back in or gets replaced.
