1974 Yamaha XS650 Service and Repair Manual

From 1974 the XS650 moved to a different service book. Yamaha published LIT-11616-01-52 for model years 1974 through 1977, and the 1974 machine appears in it as XS650A.

Anyone who has tried to use the earlier volume on a mid-seventies bike knows why the distinction matters. The figures in this book belong to the later machines, and the tables separate them by code, so XS650A can be read on its own terms.

The work itself is described as the factory described it. Engine overhaul is laid out in sequence with the measurement to take and the torque to meet, clutch and transmission have their own procedures, and the chassis chapters cover fork service, rear suspension, wheels and brake overhaul. Carburetion and ignition are set to stated values, and the electrical chapter combines component tests with a complete wiring diagram.
